  Gender Justice & Protection Project

 

The Gender Justice and Protection Project (GJP) is a key initiative of the UNDP Pakistan, funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and implemented by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The project has been initiated with an aim to contribute to sustainable reduction in violence against women (VAW) in accordance with the government’s policy commitments. The project has established a fund to support promising initiatives from the government and civil society organizations (CSOs) to combat the prevalence of violence, abuse, discrimination and social exclusion against women.

 
Curbing Honour Killing & Gender Violence in Balochistan Project

Establishment of Provincial Task Force (PTF) Under Curbing Honour Killing Project of Balochistan Police Funded by Gender Justice and Protection (GJP) Project of UNDP/UNOPS.

Reference “Curbing Honour Killing and Gender Violence in Balochistan Project” being implemented by Balochistan Police Department under Memorandum of Agreement No.C-150448/APO/09/PMG/GJP/BP, signed between Balochistan Police and UNOPS.

After receiving consent, the following Government Officials and Elected representatives are hereby notified as members of Provincial Task Force (PTF) of Curbing KAROKARI (Honour Killing) Project with immediate effect:  

(i)               Mrs. Shama Parveen Magsi          Provincial Minister Balochistan.

(ii)            Baboo Amin Umrani                        Provincial Minister Balochistan.

(iii)           Mrs. Nasreen Khetran                    Provincial Minister Balochistan.

(iv)            Mrs. Ruqaya Hashmi                     Provincial Minister Balochistan.

(v)              Ms. Raheela Durrani                      Provincial Minister Balochistan.

(vi)            Ch. Mumtaz Yousaf Advocate     Legal Expert.

(vii)          Mr. Mohammad Safdar                  Secretary Law Department  Balochistan.  

 The Provincial Task Force (PTF) will meet periodically to provide strategic guidance and to steward the project implementation. The PTF is also desired to complement the project initiatives by engaging into policy dialogues with all stakeholders to mobilize a collective response to combat honour killing.

UNOPS provided Voice Logging System to Police Department through SOCH (NGO) has been installed in Central Police Office, Quetta which will be operative shortly. The Universal Access Number (UAN ) is 1213. Information with this regard can be provided at an any time within 24 hours without disclosing identification.
